Our Qualifications

JANIE NATHANS is a native Houstonian who grew up in Spring Branch.  She attended beautiful Trinity University in San Antonio to get a BS in Business Administration.  She is married, active in her church, and the Astros' biggest fan.

Janie has been a CPA for 35 years serving individuals and small businesses.  She likes to help clients reduce their taxes as well as planning for the future in a way to pay the least possible taxes over the long term.  That includes "beyond the grave" as she helps with estate planning for small, as well as larger, estates.  She has earned the designations of Accredited Tax Advisor and Accredited Tax Preparer.

Janie has been in financial services since 1993, *affiliated with her broker-dealer, HD Vest Investment ServicesSM in Irving, Texas.  She focuses on asset growth and retirement planning.  She has been a "Best of Vest" rep, an Ambassador, in the Circle of Excellence, a Pacesetter, and a member of the Premium Service Gold Club.  Janie has earned designations as a Certified Senior Advisor, Long Term Care Professional, and Elder Care Specialist.

LORI RUST is a native Texan who grew up in Dallas.  She attended the University of Texas and she received a degree in elementary education with a math concentration, graduating cum laude.  She started teaching in Austin and then met her future husband.  They married and started raising their three children, and lived in Austin for 8 years until her husband was transferred to Houston.  After they were transferred, she decided to take another accounting course (She took one during the summer after her Junior year and really enjoyed it!)  She liked the accounting so much she continued taking courses to get all the classes she needed to become a CPA and she has been a CPA for ten years, working in private and public accounting.

Lori loves using her teaching skills in the world of accounting and has obtained her QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.  She can teach even non-accountants how to set up their accounting records and keep everything in balance and she is always willing to help with questions and problems that can occur.  She also enjoys organizing client records so we can take care of a client's bookkeeping needs right here in our office. In addition, Lori likes preparing tax returns and is always looking for ways to produce the best possible tax outcome for each client.
